Healthy Baked Chicken Parmesan

A delicious and healthier version of the classic chicken parmesan that’s packed with flavor and perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat the chicken breasts in the breadcrumb mixture, ensuring they are fully covered.
  4. Place the coated chicken breasts in a baking dish and bake for 25 minutes.
  5. Remove from the oven, spoon marinara sauce over the chicken, and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and the chicken is cooked through.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, broil for 2-3 minutes after baking.
